Local Climate Change Adaptation

Adaptation means anticipating the adverse effects of inevitable climate change and taking appropriate action to prevent or minimise the damage they can cause, or taking advantage of opportunities that may arise.

This has obvious implications for the city’s infrastructure. An obvious example of infrastructural adaptation is building sea defences to deal with higher sea levels, storm surges and higher waves. This is further covered in ‘Climate Change Mitigation & Adaptation’ in the Economics section.
